Nirmali Fenn (Australian composer and Professor of Music at New York University) contacted me to develop a website. A website that captured the essence of movement and life that was the heart of her music.
I decided to use a scrolling background that carried a flow of colours and patterns upon which sat her biography and compositions. I created Nirmali’s site with standard web code (without Flash) and was completely responsive. It would take 5 years before this technique became mainstream. The colours change depending on the time of day you visit (in relation to the user’s region). They vary from deep blues at night through to rich ambers, reds and greens throughout the day.
Nirmali’s brief also specified that various translations should be selectable. So I incorporated a small flag array in the upper right which, when clicked, translates the website into the respective languages.
This website is currently being rewritten for WordPress and will be relaunching soon.
